STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE KABOBS

You have been tasked with bringing one of the easiest possible dishes to your friends’ picnic: fruit. I know, sounds like nothing special.
Buuut, when you arrive waving with strawberry and shortcake cubes on skewer in one hand, and Strawberry Shortcake kabobs plate in other, the adults are wowed. The kids are delighted and immediately begin scarfing fruit instead of chips and mini cupcakes.
This will feed a large crowd, but no dessert plates to wash.

You are a hero !!
Sound impossible?
Nah. It’s so easy!

The concept is simple and can be tailored a myriad of ways. Start with a pan of baked and cooled shortcake or angel food cake. Choose a few other kebab-worthy items, such as beautiful red strawberries, blueberries, pineapples chunks, etc – the sky is the limit here, thread the shortcake cubes and fruit onto the skewers, drizzle with white chocolate sauce and……And you’re all done!

Super simple, or what?

This will feed a large crowd, you can assemble it in the morning, and refrigerate until ready to eat. You can even buy angel food cake loaf, instead of baking a shortcake, froze it, and then chopped it into chunks. Coordinate the colors to match the theme of your celebration. Red, white and blue sprinkles would rock for your 4th of July party!
I have even heard of people grilling shortcake, so you could grill the shortcake pieces before assembling the kabobs!
